The Lord’s Prayer
The Lord’s Prayer is the prayer Jesus taught his disciples. Matthew gives it in the Sermon on the Mount. Luke tells how one of the disciples asked: Lord, teach us to pray. There it appears in a shorter form. It is probably the best-known prayer in the world.
Here it is in seven parts, each with its own reflection, question and prayer. That way you can pray it slowly over a week, one part a day. The ending, For thine is the kingdom, is not in the oldest manuscripts. That part explains where it comes from.
