You of little faith, why did you doubt?

Two ways at once
Peter took the risk. He stepped out of the boat and walked a few steps on the water, towards Jesus. Then he noticed how strong the wind was, took fright and began to sink. He just managed to cry out: Lord, save me. Jesus caught hold of him at once. Only then came his question.
For doubt, Matthew uses a word that means something like: wanting to go two ways at once. It appears only once more in his Gospel, with the disciples on the mountain after the resurrection. There too, Jesus came to them. For Jesus, little faith isn't an insult but a name for someone he holds on to.
Question for today
Where am I watching the wind instead of Jesus?
Prayer
Lord, when I sink, take hold of me. Thank you that you don't let go of me, even when my faith is small. Amen.
