Everyone the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will never drive away.

Nobody is sent away
In Capernaum the conversation was going badly. Jesus' listeners wanted to see a sign before they would believe. Yet it is to them, of all people, that he says he will turn away no one who comes to him. That promise doesn't depend on how well you already understand him.
The Greek has a double negative, something like: I will never, ever put him out. In Greek you can hardly say it more strongly. If you are afraid you've come too late, done too much wrong or believe too little, this sentence leaves the way open for you.
Question for today
What keeps me from going to Jesus with everything?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I come to you as I am. Thank you for not sending me away. Amen.
