Drawn by the Father

Jesus has just said that he is the bread from heaven. In Capernaum people start grumbling about it: don't they know him simply as the son of Joseph? Their ancestors grumbled once too, in the desert, when it was about bread and manna. Jesus doesn't argue, but points to his Father.

In Jeremiah God says: I have drawn you with faithful love. Why does one person come and another not? John doesn't answer that. But he does say this: if you are being drawn to Jesus, it didn't start with you.

Question for today

Which people has God used to draw me to Jesus?

Prayer

Father, you were with me before I was with you. Keep drawing me, even when I resist. Amen.
