Are you asking one another why I said, ‘In a little while you will not see Me, and then after a little while you will see Me’? Truly, truly, I tell you, you will weep and wail while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy.

A little while
Within a few verses the words a little while occur seven times. A little while, and you won't see me. Again a little while, and you'll see me. The disciples don't understand, but they don't ask him. Jesus notices that they want to ask, and raises it himself.
You will weep, and the world will celebrate. Anyone who has ever grieved while others simply carried on knows that. The neighbours mow their lawns, the news is about something else. Jesus names the grief before it comes.
Question for today
Who near me is grieving while the world simply carries on?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, you named your friends' grief before it came. Stay with me when I weep and the world keeps turning. Amen.
