Still in the fog

On the last evening Jesus knelt before his disciples with a basin of water. Peter couldn't make sense of it. Was his Lord really going to wash his feet? Jesus didn't explain it yet. He only said: you don't understand now, but later you will.

John often tells us that the disciples only understood things later. After the resurrection, Jesus' words fell into place. Sometimes it's the same for us. You can't see why something is happening, or what God is doing. Jesus doesn't ask you to understand it now. He asks you to trust him now. Understanding comes later.

Question for today

Where is God asking me to trust him before I understand?

Prayer

Lord, there is so much I don't understand. I can't always see what you are doing. Give me patience, so that I don't have to know everything right now. I trust you, even in the fog. Amen.
