I tell you, He will promptly carry out justice on their behalf. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on earth?

Faith on earth?
After the story of the widow and the judge come a promise and a question. God will see justice done quickly. But will the Son of Man find faith when he comes? The Greek says: the faith. Many interpreters think of that widow's faith, the faith that kept knocking.
It is a question without an answer, and that is probably the point. Quickly, and yet a long wait: he doesn't resolve that tension. He doesn't ask whether people know the right things. He asks whether they keep asking when the answer is slow to come.
Question for today
What keeps my faith going when I wait a long time for an answer?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, when you come, I want to still be here, still asking and still trusting. Hold on to me when I want to give up. Amen.
