A whole person
Jesus' opponents are still angry about a healing on the sabbath. He reasons from small to great, as their own teachers did. A boy was circumcised on the eighth day, even if that was a sabbath. If that is allowed for one small part of the body, then surely for a whole person?
What they saw looked like working on the day of rest. What actually happened was that a man could walk again. If you only look at the rule, you see a violation. If you look at the person, you see someone being made whole.

Who have I already judged, without knowing what really happened?

Lord Jesus, you looked past the rule to the person. Slow down my judgment, until I see what you see. Amen.
