Tell no one
By calling Jesus Son of David, the two blind men had named the promised king who would set Israel free. After Jesus opens their eyes, he strictly forbids them to spread it around. Matthew uses a word for this that sounds almost angry. Yet they told it everywhere.
Why did Jesus want no fuss? Probably because people expected a fighting king, and he was taking a different road. The blind men meant well, but didn't do what he asked. Gratitude is more than talking about it. It is also listening.
Question for today
Do I listen to what Jesus asks, even when I would do it differently myself?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, you weren't looking for applause. Let me follow your way, even when I don't understand it. Amen.
