I am the good shepherd. I know My sheep and My sheep know Me, just as the Father knows Me and I know the Father. And I lay down My life for the sheep.

Being known
Once again Jesus calls himself the good shepherd. Now he sets the bar for knowing very high: as the Father and he know each other. You can't get closer than that. And in the same breath he says that he gives his life for his sheep.
Many people long to be known, and are afraid of it at the same time. If someone knows everything about you, will they stay? Here is someone who knows everything, and stays. More than that: he gives his life. Fully known and still not let go: you can rest in that.
Question for today
What would I still hide if I believed he already knows me completely?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, you know me completely. Let me stop hiding, and rest in your faithfulness. Amen.
