The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD. God lays in Zion a tested cornerstone; for others it becomes a stone to stumble over.
Psalm 118 was part of the Hallel, the songs sung at Passover. The crowd at the entry into Jerusalem shouts Psalm 118:25–26 ('Hosanna… blessed is he who comes'). A few days later Jesus quotes Psalm 118:22 about himself. Peter builds a whole picture from it: Jesus the living stone, believers the living stones.
