The Lord whom they seek will suddenly come to his temple. The glory of the second temple will be greater than that of the first. After the death of the anointed one, city and sanctuary are destroyed.
An underrated line: several texts assume that the Messiah will come while the second temple is still standing. That temple was destroyed by the Romans in the year 70. The second temple was humbler than Solomon's; what made it 'more glorious'? Christians answer: that the Lord himself walked into it, as a baby with Simeon and Anna, and later as an adult.
