It is too small a thing for you only to restore Israel: I will make you a light for the nations, so that my salvation reaches to the ends of the earth.
Old Simeon takes the baby Jesus in his arms in the temple and calls him 'a light to lighten the Gentiles'. Paul and Barnabas use the same text as their commission to bring the gospel to non-Jews as well.
