Zacchaeus, hurry down, for I must stay at your house today.

Today at your house
Zacchaeus was the chief tax collector in Jericho and had grown rich. He was short and climbed a sycamore tree to be able to see Jesus. Jesus stopped, looked up and called him by name.
Notice the order. Jesus invites himself before Zacchaeus has put anything right. Only then does Zacchaeus promise to give half his goods to the poor and to repay anyone he has cheated fourfold. Acceptance came first, change followed.
Question for today
Do I dare to let Jesus in before I have everything in order?
Prayer
Lord, you know my name and my past. Come into my house today. Change me from the inside. Amen.
