He already knows

Jesus warns against many words and vain repetitions, as if you had to persuade God. Straight afterwards he teaches the Lord's Prayer, a short prayer.

If God already knows, why pray? Because prayer isn't passing on information. It is relationship. A child also tells their father things he already knows.

Question for today

Do I pray to inform God, or to be with him?

Prayer

Father, you already know what I need. Still I want to tell you. Not because you need to hear it, but because I want to be with you. Amen.
