You fool! This very night your life will be required of you. Then who will own what you have accumulated?

Bigger barns
A rich farmer had a bumper harvest. He thought it over, with himself as his only conversation partner. I will pull down my barns and build bigger ones. Then I will say to my soul: take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
The plan was clever. But he left one factor out of the calculation: he didn't know how much time he had. Jesus concludes: so is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
Question for today
Who am I actually storing up for?
Prayer
Lord, I don't know how much time I have. Teach me to be rich toward you, and not only in my barns. Amen.
