What people esteem

Luke writes that the Pharisees were lovers of money and derided Jesus for what he said about money. He answered with a sharp sentence.

What people esteem highly, status, wealth, reputation, looks very different to God. He doesn't look at your image but at your heart. That is sobering. And freeing too. You don't have to keep up what matters to people.

Question for today

What image am I keeping up, and what does God see?

Prayer

God, you know my heart. Free me from the need to look good in people's eyes. Let me be honest before you. Amen.
