Upright again
A woman had been bent over for eighteen years. She could not straighten herself at all. Jesus saw her in the synagogue, called her, laid his hands on her, and she stood up straight and glorified God.
The ruler of the synagogue was indignant: there are six days in which men ought to work. Jesus called her a daughter of Abraham, an expression found nowhere else in the New Testament. She wasn't a case, but family.
Question for today
What has kept me bent over for years?
Prayer
Lord, you saw the woman nobody saw any more. See me too where I am bowed down. Straighten me up. Amen.
