Caring to the end
A few women stood by the cross, among them Mary, the mother of Jesus. Next to her stood the disciple whom Jesus loved. Jesus entrusts them to each other.
He is hanging there in agony and thinks of his mother. John writes that from that hour the disciple took her into his own home. Even on the cross Jesus creates a new family.

Lord, even in your hardest hour you saw the people around you. Give me eyes for those who stand alone. Make us a family that cares for one another. Amen.
