Whom seek ye?

Judas came with soldiers and officers, with lanterns, torches and weapons. Jesus went towards them and asked whom they were seeking. Jesus of Nazareth. He said: I am he.

John writes that they went backward, and fell to the ground. The King James adds he, but the Greek simply says: I am. The words of God to Moses. He wasn't captured. He gave himself up. And he only asked that his disciples be allowed to go.

Question for today

What does it mean that Jesus gave himself freely?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, you went towards them and gave yourself. Thank you that you did it freely, for me. Amen.
