Rivers of living water
Jesus cried this out on the last, great day of the Feast of Tabernacles. According to the Mishnah, during that week water was carried every morning in a golden jug from the spring of Siloam to the temple and poured out at the altar.
In the middle of that ritual Jesus calls out that he himself gives the water. John explains straight away: he meant the Spirit. And notice the direction. The water doesn't only flow towards you, but also out of you, to others.
Question for today
Is anything of God flowing through me to others?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I am thirsty. Give me your living water, and let it flow through me to those around me. Amen.
