Doing good on the sabbath
In the synagogue sat a man with a withered hand. Everyone was watching to see whether Jesus would heal him on the sabbath. Jesus called the man forward and asked this question. But they held their peace.
Mark writes that Jesus looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts. Then he healed the man. Straight afterwards Pharisees and Herodians began plotting together to kill him. Doing good can cost you a great deal.

Lord, give me the courage to do good, even when it doesn't fit the rules or costs me something. Amen.
