What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the pasture and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it?

Ninety-nine isn't enough
Anyone doing the maths would say ninety-nine per cent is a fine score. But this shepherd counts differently. He leaves the flock and looks for that one sheep until he finds it.
Then he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. At home he calls his friends and neighbours together to celebrate. To God, nobody is a rounding error.
Question for today
Do I sometimes feel like that one lost sheep, or do I know someone who is?
Prayer
Good Shepherd, thank you for coming to look for me. Thank you that I am not a number. Let me also look for those who have gone astray. Amen.
