Faithful over a few things

In Jesus' time a talent was an enormous sum: six thousand denarii, when one denarius was a day's wage. Two servants put theirs to work. The third buried his talent, because he was afraid.

Even so, the master calls the first sums a few things. What counts for him is not the size, but the faithfulness. And the reward isn't a bonus, but joy: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

Question for today

What have I been given that I'm burying out of fear?

Prayer

Lord, you have given me gifts. Help me not to bury them out of fear, but to use them for you. Let me be faithful in small things. Amen.
