Waiting two days
Lazarus's sisters sent word that their brother was ill. John writes: Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus. And then the strange sequel: when he heard it, he abode two days still in the same place.
Love and delay in one breath. It is uncomfortable. Lazarus died. But the story doesn't end at the grave. Sometimes God seems too late, while he has something greater in mind.
Question for today
Where does God seem too late, and can I still trust that he loves?

Lord, sometimes you wait longer than I understand. Help me to believe that your love is there even when you wait. Amen.
