This is why I speak to them in parables: Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand.

Why stories?

The disciples asked why Jesus spoke in puzzling stories. His answer quotes Isaiah: people look without seeing and listen without understanding.

A parable isn't a simple illustration. It is an invitation. Whoever isn't interested hears a nice story and walks on. Whoever becomes curious comes closer and asks more, like the disciples. For them the story opened up.

Question for today

Which story of Jesus invites me to ask more?

Prayer

Lord, open my eyes and ears. Make me curious, so that I come closer and keep asking. Amen.
