These are the words I spoke to you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about Me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms.

All that is written of me
The risen Jesus names the three parts into which the Jewish Bible is divided to this day: the Law, the Prophets and the Writings, of which the Psalms are the first and largest book. The whole Old Testament, in other words.
Luke writes: then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures. What they had read before without seeing it fell into place. Whoever reads the Old Testament with Jesus in mind discovers how much had been said beforehand.
Question for today
Which Old Testament text opened up for me through Jesus?
Prayer
Lord, open my understanding as you did for the disciples. Let me read the whole of Scripture, and find you in it. Amen.
