He loved him
A rich man asked what he must do to inherit eternal life. He had kept the commandments all his life. Only Mark then writes: Jesus beholding him loved him.
Out of that love came the hardest question. Sell everything. The man was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions. Jesus didn't run after him. Love sometimes means asking a question that hurts.

What is the one thing I lack, or the one thing I hold on to too tightly?
