A hard saying
Jesus had said that people must eat his flesh and drink his blood. Many followers reacted: this is an hard saying; who can hear it?
Jesus doesn't take his words back. But he gives a key: it isn't about flesh in a literal sense. Quickeneth means gives life. His words are spirit and life. Some things you can't grasp with your mind alone. Still, many dropped out.
