In the ancient world people often buried their valuables in the ground, because there were hardly any banks. Sometimes someone found such a treasure centuries later.

The man in the story sells everything to buy that field. But notice why: for joy thereof. It doesn't feel like a sacrifice. Whoever discovers what the kingdom is worth gives up the rest gladly.
