Little girl, arise
Mark preserves these words in Aramaic, the language Jesus spoke. Traces like this are seen as a sign of old tradition. Someone remembered these very sounds.
Jesus took the dead girl by the hand. According to the law, touching the dead made you unclean. He did it anyway. Then he said something very ordinary: give her something to eat.
