Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours.

The other son
In the parable of the prodigal son there is another son. The elder one. He always worked hard and did everything right. When his brother came home and a feast was held, he stood outside, angry.
The father goes out to him too. He calls him son. All that I have is thine. The parable ends without telling us whether the elder son went in. That question is left with the reader.
Question for today
Do I sometimes stand outside the feast, because I think I deserve it more?
Prayer
Father, sometimes I am the elder son. Hard-working, but without joy. Come out to me too, and bring me inside. Amen.
