So if you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!

How much more
Jesus asks which father would give his child a serpent when it asks for a fish. Nobody, of course. Even ordinary, flawed people give their children good things.
How much more God. What stands out is what Luke names as the good gift: the Holy Spirit. In Matthew the same place says: good things. The best God can give isn't something, but himself.
Question for today
Have I ever simply asked for the Spirit?
Prayer
Father, you give good gifts. Today I ask you for the best of them: give me your Holy Spirit. Amen.
