So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.

One another's feet
Washing feet was the work of the lowest servant. People walked in sandals along dusty roads. On the last evening Jesus tied a towel round himself and washed his disciples' feet. Peter refused at first.
Afterwards Jesus said: I have given you an example. He doesn't only mean the ritual. He means an attitude. No task is too lowly for someone who loves.
Question for today
What small, unseen work can I do for someone today?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, you knelt before your friends. Teach me that no task is too small. Let me wash someone's feet today. Amen.
