Put up your sword
At the arrest one of the disciples drew his sword and cut off the ear of the high priest's servant. John gives the names: it was Peter, and the servant was called Malchus.
Jesus stopped him. Luke tells that he touched the ear and healed it. His last miracle before his death was for someone who had come to arrest him. He didn't answer violence with violence, but with healing.
Question for today
Where do I reach for a sword, in words or deeds?
Prayer
Lord, you healed your enemy's ear. Teach me to put away my sword and to heal instead of strike. Amen.
