Philip asked: Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. An honest question. He wanted to see God.
Jesus' answer sounds disappointed, but also loving. Have I been with you so long, and you still don't know me? Whoever wants to know what God is like doesn't have to look up. He can look at Jesus.
