Take heed how you hear
Jesus says this straight after the parable of the sower. The seed is the same, but the ground differs. How you listen decides what happens.
Whoever listens attentively is shown more and more. Whoever half listens even loses what he thought he knew. Listening isn't passive. It is a skill that grows.
