Born again
Nicodemus was a scholar and a leader. He came to Jesus by night, perhaps because he didn't want to be seen. He didn't understand a word of what Jesus said about being born again.
The Greek word can mean again, but also from above. A new beginning that doesn't come from yourself. Nicodemus doesn't disappear from the story. At Jesus' burial he brings an enormous quantity of myrrh and aloes.
