By her name
Mary Magdalene stood weeping at the empty tomb. She saw someone standing there and thought he was the gardener. She asked where he had put the body.
Then he said one word: her name. Only then did she recognise him. Earlier Jesus had said that the good shepherd calls his sheep by name. Here it happens, on the first Easter morning.
Question for today
Do I hear Jesus saying my name today?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, you called Mary by her name. Call me too, in the middle of my grief or my busyness. Let me recognise you. Amen.
