Let him who is without sin among you be the first to cast a stone at her.

Who throws the first stone?
A woman caught in adultery was brought before Jesus. The law said she should be stoned. Jesus wrote with his finger on the ground and spoke this one sentence. One by one they left, the eldest first.
To be honest: this story is missing from the oldest manuscripts of John. Many scholars think it is an old, reliable tradition that found its place later. The ending is clear in any case: neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
Question for today
What stone am I holding in my hand?
Prayer
Lord, I am not without sin. Let me put stones down instead of throwing them. Thank you that you don't condemn me, but give me a new beginning. Amen.
