Come forth

Lazarus had been in the tomb for four days. Martha warned that by now he stank. Jesus had the stone taken away, prayed, and cried with a loud voice. The dead man came out, still bound hand and foot with graveclothes.

Notice the second command. Jesus tells the bystanders: loose him. Jesus did the miracle, but others had to do the loosing. Whoever receives a new beginning often needs people who help take off the old graveclothes.

Question for today

Whom can I help loose from what is still holding them?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, call me out of what is dead. And give me people who help to loose me, and make me such a person for others. Amen.
