Already overcome

Jesus says this at the end of his last conversation with the disciples, shortly before his arrest. He doesn't promise an easy life. In the world they will have a hard time.

But then he says: I have overcome the world. In Greek that is a completed tense. He says it before the cross, as if the victory is already settled. The struggle is real, but the outcome is known.

Question for today

Which struggle am I fighting as if the outcome were still open?

Prayer

Lord, sometimes I have tribulation. You don't promise it will go away, but that you are stronger. Give me good cheer today. Amen.
