In My Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?

A place for you
In 1611, mansions simply meant dwelling places, rooms. In Jesus' time a family often built rooms onto the parental home when someone joined. The house grew with the family.
Jesus says: in my Father's house there is room enough. And he himself goes to make a place ready for us. That isn't only a promise about later. It says something about now: you belong, there is room for you.
Question for today
Do I feel at home with God?
Prayer
Father, thank you that there is room for me in your house. Let me live even now as someone who belongs. Amen.
