If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow Me.

Daily
Matthew and Mark have these words too. But only Luke adds one word: daily. It isn't a one-off act of heroism, but a choice made every day.
Taking up your cross doesn't mean you should look for every discomfort. It means not putting yourself at the centre. Choosing again each morning to follow him, even when it costs something.
Question for today
What does it mean today, this day, to follow him?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I want to follow you. Not once, but today. Help me to let go of myself and to come after you. Amen.
