I have compassion for this crowd, because they have already been with Me three days and have nothing to eat.

Three days without food
This happened in the Decapolis, a region with a mostly non-Jewish population. A large crowd had been with Jesus for three days. The food had run out. From seven loaves thousands of people were fed.
The Greek word for having compassion comes from the word for the bowels, the innards. It is compassion you feel in your gut. Jesus didn't only see souls that needed saving. He saw hungry people.
Question for today
Do I notice when someone around me is hungry, in whatever form?
Prayer
Lord, you felt the people's hunger. Give me a heart that feels with others, and hands that do something. Amen.
