He was thirsty

Two words in English, just one in Greek. Jesus, who told a woman at a well that he gives living water, is now thirsty himself.

John's Gospel often shows Jesus in his greatness. But here he is fully human. Tired, parched, and dependent on a sponge of sour wine. God doesn't know our weakness by hearsay.
