I am
In Mark's Gospel Jesus keeps telling people to be silent about who he is. Until this moment. Before the council the high priest asked: art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?
Now, for the first time, he says it openly. I am. And he quotes Psalm 110 and Daniel 7. He knew this was his death sentence. The high priest tore his clothes. Only when he stood powerless did he say who he was.
Question for today
Do I dare to say who Jesus is to me, even when it costs me something?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, you spoke the truth, even when it cost you everything. Give me the courage to stand up for you. Amen.
