A God of the living
The Sadducees didn't believe in the resurrection. They came with an absurd story: a woman who married seven brothers one after another. Whose wife will she be at the resurrection?
Jesus answered that they knew neither the Scriptures nor the power of God. And he quoted Exodus. God said to Moses: I am the God of Abraham. Not: I was. Whoever belongs to God goes on belonging to him, even after death.
