For this reason, every scribe who has been discipled in the kingdom of heaven is like a homeowner who brings out of his storeroom new treasures as well as old.

New and old
With this sentence Jesus closes his series of parables in Matthew. Some interpreters think Matthew is also describing himself here: a scribe who knows the old Scriptures and understands what is new in Jesus.
It isn't a choice between old and new. A good householder brings both out of his storeroom. What you learned before hasn't become worthless. It gets a new place.
Question for today
What old knowledge can I use in a new way?
Prayer
Lord, let nothing I have learned be lost. Let the old and the new come together in me into something good. Amen.
