To serve

James and John asked if they could sit next to Jesus in glory, on his right and left. The other ten disciples were angry. It was about status.

Jesus says it works the other way round with him. Whoever wants to be great must serve. A ransom is the price paid to set someone free. He didn't come to take something, but to give everything.

Question for today

Where am I seeking status, when I could serve?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, you came to serve and not to be served. Free me from my need for recognition. Teach me to serve as you do. Amen.
